Large-scale framed mixed media collage work titled “Midnight Stillness,” part of the artist’s “Prairie Vision” series. Pencil-signed by the artist, Barry Lee Darling.
This atmospheric piece evokes a nocturnal prairie landscape: deep midnight-blue tones wash over a heavily textured surface, scored and dripped to suggest wind-swept grass beneath a glowing orange horizon band. Below, a small inset landscape panel captures a dramatic sunset sky over open prairie, with two bison silhouettes grazing quietly near the horizon - a subtle, painterly detail that grounds the abstract composition in the Western landscape tradition. Mesmerizing .
