Mixed Media Figure Drawing

Abstract drawing on paper, signed lower right, done by artist Stephanie Baron, portraying a profile of a seated figure, rendered with expressive, gestural lines and translucent washes of color. The artist layers pencil, pastel, and watercolor-like media, blending earthy browns, muted yellows, and soft blues to create both structure and atmosphere.

The form emerges through sweeping contours and tonal modulation. The strokes are loose yet intentional: areas of opacity alternate with delicate transparent veils, giving the piece a sense of movement and emotional resonance. There’s a quiet dignity to the figure’s pose, the downward tilt of the head implying introspection. The background remains abstract and pale, allowing the profile to hover between presence and memory—like a fleeting study of identity, gesture, and inner life.
