“Reminiscence”, Surrealist Oil on Board
Surreal oil composition, signed lower right, titled “Reminiscence” verso. It reads like a mind in montage: memories, symbols, and places drifting into one another across a bright sky-blue field. At the center, a tall classical column becomes a kind of spine for the painting, anchoring scenes that swirl around it: a figure in flowing white and red, wing-like shapes, and a dancer-like figure holding an artist’s palette as if creativity itself is being carried forward through time.
Around them, the world keeps interrupting the dream. There are city blocks and factories, power lines and waves, a small boat with a suited man pointing urgently, and a dramatic burst of light - like a moment of impact or revelation. Faces appear and recede in the upper half, suggesting ancestors, strangers, or past selves; below, a bear leans over an open book, while a bridge and railway tunnel pull the eye into distance, as if the past has its own pathways. Very energetic and reflective all at once - history, art, labor, nature, and personal memory layered together in a single, surreal “remembering.”
