Large Bold Floral Still Life

A striking original acrylic painting from 1994: three round vases in purple, cobalt and periwinkle against a deep black ground. They hold tall green leaves, thick white anemone-style blooms and delicate sprays of tiny white blossoms. The saturated colour blocks and bold outlines give it a graphic, Matisse-inspired feel. The white flowers are built up in swirled impasto, so the surface has real texture that catches the light. It's signed "E.S." and dated 1994 in teal at lower left. It's framed in a slim black metal gallery frame, and it's a large piece that would anchor a wall over a sofa, sideboard or bed. The dark background makes it especially good with bright or colourful interiors.
